i-docs™ is fully a web application. Therefore the following components are needed:

• Web Server in order to access the XML Database (Please note that a built-in version of the Apache web server is included)
• Application Server in order to distribute the application to the users. (Please note that a built-in version of Tomcat Application Server is included)
• Java Run-Time Environment in order to deliver the java framework.

From a functionality perspective we keep designing the system using well known design patterns. i-docs™ is a fully modular component-based application surrounded by various APIs.
