i-docs™ enterprise edition for the Telecommunication (Telco) sector is ideally suited for taking advantage of a flexible and configurable system, which provides the capability to easily mould and personalize the customer’s bills.
The layout of the invoice is able to adopt any new changes with the minimum effort in order to cover the Business Needs (time-to-market) rapidly, so as is able to, for example, incorporate in the Bill, GPRS calls, MMS messages or any other new service(s), providing the following capabilities:
Unique centralized bill appearance
Besides the appearance of the bill on the customer side, the appearance of the bill on the help-desk agent is vital. Using i-docs™ the benefit is very clear: Appearance is re-usable. Help-desk agent has in front of him/her exactly the same invoice as the printed one. Security and confidentiality
Τhe Role Based Access workflow features and PKI functionality provided by i-docs™ guarantees the required level of security and confidentiality for a Telco Operator and its customers.
Departmental Approach
This is highly relevant for a Telco bill that displays large amounts of heterogeneous data targeted to a variable and multi-motivated audience. Such an approach greatly increases punctuality and eases navigation from summary to details and vice-versa. It allows different addresses of the same bill to focus on different sections of the bill without having to occupy themselves with secondary information. It also facilitates easy navigation so that one can read the bill at a high "abstract" level to acquire an overall view or focus on specific details relevant only for them.
Portability
Portability means that i-docs™ is not tied up to specific architectures, formats, or systems. This allows for maximum flexibility when setting up or modifying the execution environment or the interfaces with other systems. The requirement for compliance with variable architectures and systems essentially leads to an ANSI-compliant or web-based application. The requirement for format portability cannot be fulfilled by proprietary or industry specific formats. Only global, standardized, industry independent formats are been used.
Modularity and cohesion
i-docs™ supports high level of modularity meaning that the application is split up into logical parts (modules). High cohesion means that each module implements specific aspects of the application strongly related with one another and independent from aspects implemented in other modules. These two qualities allow for future modifications to focus on specific modules and thus involve as less vendors as possible (ideally one for each set of related modifications). As a result, cost, time and complexity for performing the modifications are minimized.
Auditability
The operator’s internal and external auditors can access current and past documents, locate specific documents quickly and do statistical analysis or other processing on these documents as required.
System’s flexibility
i-docs™ flexibility can also refer to internal changes of the application that handles the operator bill (e.g. increase performance, implement new features, deploy to new platforms, add a new output format, integrate a new input system etc). In order to realize such requirements, i-docs™ application follows “good” software engineering practices that accent modularity, high cohesion and portability of the application.
Layout Flexible to change
Occasionally, the layout or content of a telecom invoice needs to be modified on short notice . Request for changes follow the introduction of new services, legislation, feedback from customers etc. The extent and complexity of modifications required every time can vary from negligible to extensive, and they affect billing as well as the other applications that are part of the system that generates invoices.
Requests for changes include adding or removing information on the invoice layout, changing the location of information, or changing the way information is presented ( colors, fonts etc.). Such changes require that the layout and content of the Telco’s bill is easily modifiable via a simple and intuitive tool that is easy to use. Using a Graphical User Interface , no technical knowledge or insight of the application is required by the users of the docs that is included with i-docs™.
Using i-docs™ the operator can create “templates” of the telecom invoice, one template per type of account: flat, large-account, corporate, individual or per type of behaviour such as SMS heavy user , Roamer, or even more specific individual characteristics etc. These templates are stored in a global, standardized, industry independent format named XSL.
